The Summer FSAA board meeting took place at the Scholarship Office in Eugene, Oregon, overlooking the Willamette River.
During this meeting we gave a warm goodbye and thanks to outgoing members and welcomed the new members to their first official FSAA board meeting!
The FSAA board was able to begin their meeting after a tour of the new scholarship office, which included plenty of river views and sunlight, and a discussion on leadership vs. followership . Some of the items discussed were the FSAA budget, a reflection on the year-to-date, the launch of a new FSAA website, and new ways to outreach FSAA members, including Twitter and Instagram. Most importantly, the three committees—development, communications, and events—held break-out sessions to begin the planning process for the next year and a half. This included scheduled and prospective events and activities and a budget forecast. If you are interested in this process, have ideas on possible activities, trainings, or opportunities—join a committee!
After the board meeting, the FSAA board members were able to join the Ford Scholar Recognition dinner. They were able to sit among the graduating 2013 Scholars—and new FSAA Alumni members!—and the incoming 2017 Scholars. As always, the event was beautifully done and the attendees top-notch.
