The Ford Scholar Alumni Association has five committees designed to forward the goals of the organization as a whole, and to provide opportunities for Ford Scholar Alumni to give back to the organizations and communities that helped them.
Communications Committee
The Communications Committee facilitates the distribution of information regarding all FSAA activities. The current elected Secretary residing on the Board acts as liaison to the Communications Committee. An integral part of every organization is facilitating the communications between people. This committee helps out by continuing to produce the Ford Scholar Alumni Newsletter, updating and maintaining the alumni website, and coordinating special announcements for the other standing committees.

Events Committee
The Events Committee plans community service and social events for the FSAA. An At-Large Board member is appointed to act as liaison to the Events Committee. The primary event this group works on is the alumni conference held every three years. Past events include stewardship projects that restore rural or disadvantaged areas of Oregon: SOLV’s Beach Cleanup, SOLV’s Community Care Project, and restoring native trees and shrubs to improve wildlife habitat. Please join us if you have ideas for future events and like planning or organizing events!

Mentoring Committee
The Ford Scholar Alumni Association Mentoring Program is designed to connect current Ford Scholars with Ford Scholar Alumni. It will provide support and encouragement for current students, through the exchange of knowledge, information, and resources. The mentoring program fosters further development of the strong sense of community between alumni and scholars. It will allow Kenneth Ford’s legacy of giving back to impact our society in profound ways through our service, leadership, and careers.
Mentors and current Ford Scholars are matched through a survey to identify shared interests and careers/majors with location preferences taken into consideration. Mentoring expectations are sent out to assist in facilitating these bonds and help to build strong caring relationships among Scholars and Alumni. Whenever possible, the mentoring program provides and/or joins events occurring on campus or throughout the community to allow opportunities for additional meaningful contacts within the group.

Nominations & Elections Committee
The Elections Committee coordinates and oversees the nomination and election process, and recommends persons to fill vacancies on the Board. The current elected Vice-President residing on the Board is the liaison for the Elections Committee. This committee is responsible for publishing information about upcoming Board vacancies, setting timelines, and soliciting candidates for the election. This group also selects up to five candidates for each available position, produces voting materials for all elections, and provides election results to the Communications Committee for distribution to all FSAA members.
